Privacy Policy for Environment Banner

Effective: October 2026

Environment Banner displays user-configured environment labels on web pages. It does not send browsing data or configuration data to the developer or to third parties.

What data the extension uses

When you open the extension popup, it reads the active page's hostname so it can show that site's settings. For configured sites, it checks the current page URL to determine whether to display a banner.

The extension stores the site rules you create in Chrome's local extension storage. A rule can include a hostname, environment name, banner text, banner style, position, color, border style, enabled state, and creation or update timestamps. While a quick-add is awaiting your site-access decision, a temporary pending rule is stored locally. The extension's light or dark interface preference is stored locally by the extension page.

The extension does not read page text or other website content. If you export settings, the JSON backup is downloaded to a file on your device at your request.

How data is stored and used

Site rules are stored using Chrome local extension storage and are used only to configure and display your environment labels. Settings are not synced by the extension and are not uploaded to a server. The extension does not use analytics or advertising trackers.

Site access

Chrome asks for site access when you configure a hostname. The extension requests access to that exact hostname over HTTP and HTTPS so it can display the banner there. You can review or revoke granted site access in Chrome's extension settings.

Third-party services and sharing

The extension does not use third-party data-processing or analytics services and does not sell or share your settings or browsing information.

Data retention and deletion

Your site rules remain in local extension storage until you delete them or remove the extension. You can delete individual rules from the extension's Settings page. Exported backup files are managed by you and can be deleted from your device like other files.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the extension's data practices change. The updated policy will be published at this same public URL.
